Class 4O'G

Brancaster Residential 14th-16th May 2018

Year 4 had a wonderful time in Brancaster and below is a selection of some of the (hundreds!) of photos we took. We went kayaking, took part in a coastal safari (looking for coastal animals and exploring the environment), made model rafts, did some orienteering and went to the beach. There were some great displays of team work and all of the children had a fantastic time. We will be writing thank you letters to the National Trust centre and we are also hoping to have a go at using our new orienteering skills at home too.

My World, My Culture... Culture Week March 2018

Welcome

Welcome to our class page. Here you will find useful documents such as letters and homework, as well as photographs of our wonderful work and news on what we have been learning. We have recently been taking part in Culture Week, learning about different cultures and Easter celebrations. The children got experience of a wide range of activities and had the opportunity work with lots of different teachers!

Check out our photos from earlier in the year... Topics we have covered so far are Robots, The Rotten Romans, Healthy Me and The Anglo-Saxons, with plenty still to come! We have covered mini topics through reading comprehension and so far our favorite has been Fantastic Mr. Fox! We love the work of Roald Dahl and have also been reading The Twits. Fostering a passion for reading and encouraging reading for pleasure is a strong value across year 4, as well as throughout the whole school and there will be more fun reading challenges as the year progresses.

As always, any questions, queries or if you would like to come in and look through our books or at our lovely displays then please get in touch!

Some comments from 4O'G...

"I like art and crafts and PE and drama because it is fun!"

 - Evie

"I love art. It is amazing. When you start painting, it takes you to another world".

- Tallulah

Class Calendar

Here are the things that go on regularly in class as well as information on upcoming dates and activities...

Monday and Friday - Show and Tell. Please try to only send in things for your child to discuss on these 2 days (as we are encouraging pupils to leave special things at home at other times).

Tuesday - Wollaton Road Library visit. I will send a text out when our next visit approaches. Please get in touch if you would like to join us.

Thursday - This is always our PE day, however we regularly have opportunities to take part in PE activities throughout the week so please ensure a full, weather appropriate PE kit is in school Monday to Friday.

Friday - Golden Time! - We always try to balance activities that are beneficial for our health, well-being or communication skills and develop great working relationships. If we have an activity that is a little unhealthy (for example popcorn at circle time), we will balance this with something healthy. Thank you for your regular contributions that enable us to provide activities that are a bit more special.

Parents Evening - Autumn 2017

Following some of the discussions at this years meetings, you can now find the overviews for year 4 in the ' useful documents' section of this page (just scroll down). These are the targets we will be working on over the year.

I have also included below a photo of the books some of us discussed (for those of you that wanted some recommended reading!). As always, please do not feel like you have to wait for a parents evening if there is anything we can help you with.

BIG ME Week - for Action Aid

16th - 20th October 2017

A very big thank you to all the parents, carers and volunteers that took the time to speak to us over the week. We talked about different jobs and aspirations, proving that there are no 'girl' jobs or 'boy' jobs... and hopefully showing pupils (and adults!) they can do anything that they put their mind to!

BIG ME Week - October

Anti-bullying Week, 13th-17th October

Autumn Term 1 - Robots

Attendance figures for this week 14-18 May - almost 94.5% - keep going so that we can reach our traget of 96% attendance!
