Welcome to 5K!
We have 21 children in our class - 13 boys and 8 girls. Our class teacher is Miss Kirk and our teaching assistants are Mrs Fowler and Miss Cripwell. Mrs Fowler works in our class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Miss Cripwell works with us Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
Welcome back to school and to year 5. We hope you have had a fantastic summer and are ready for our busy and exciting year ahead!
Our topic this half term is the Vicious Vikings! We have already begun our exciting learning all about how the Vikings invaded Britain and where they came from.
We have Maths and English everyday and our focuses this half term are on place value and non-fiction writing.
Please see our timetable for Autumn 1 below to see what we are up to everyday.
Our new homework booklets contain our weekly times tables and spellings. It is so important that children in Year 5 are securing their times table knowledge and continuing to improve their spelling skills, ready for Year 6. These are set each week, with spelling tests taking place every Wednesday and times table tests on Friday.
As well as this, we also have a creative piece of homework linked to our topic this half term. Children are able to show their learning and knowledge in anyway they choose (more details in the homework booklets).
In addition to these set pieces of homework, it is crucial that children in Year 5 continue to read regularly. Reading helps all areas of children's English skills including their writing and spelling. Reading bookmarks have been given to children to record when they have read at home. Prizes will be awarded in class for children who have read.
We have PE on a Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning so please ensure children have a full PE kit in school on these days.
