Online Safety

Helping Children Stay Safe and Confident Online

At Stanhope, we recognise that technology plays a central role in children’s lives—both in and out of school. The internet opens up incredible opportunities for learning, creativity, and connection, but it also presents challenges and risks that children must be equipped to handle.

Online safety is a key part of our safeguarding approach and is taught explicitly through our computing, PSHE, and personal development curriculum. We help children learn how to stay safe, act responsibly, and make informed choices in a digital world that is constantly changing.

However, online safety doesn't stop at the school gate. Children benefit most when schools and families work together. That’s why we are committed to supporting parents and carers with the tools, advice, and knowledge needed to guide their child’s digital life confidently.

On this page, you’ll find a range of trusted resources to help you:

  • Set up parental controls and privacy settings

  • Talk to your child about online risks in an age-appropriate way

  • Understand popular games, apps, and trends

  • Promote healthy screen time habits

  • Respond to concerns around cyberbullying, gaming, or inappropriate content

If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s online safety, please contact us—we’re here to help.

Working Together

Online safety is most effective when there is open communication between children, school, and home. Regular conversations with your child about how they use the internet—what they enjoy, what worries them, and who they talk to—can make a big difference.

We encourage all parents and carers to explore these resources and get in touch with us if you need support. Together, we can make sure every child feels confident, informed, and safe as they explore the digital world.

Spaces in all year groups available. If you would like to visit the school and become part of our wonderful Stanhope Community, please contact the school office on 0115 9553440.
