Nursery - Little Conkers

Welcome to our wonderful

Stanhope Nursery.

We, at Little Conkers, believe that the children should be at the heart of the curriculum.

We follow the childrens lead and interests and learn through play in our beautiful, natural and inviting environment. Our continuous provision enables critical thinking and helps to develop the childrens creative skills while the children learn at their own pace. Our varied sessions include lots of singing, story sharing, role play and messy and sensory play, enabling the children to develop their curiosity, concentration and resilience. Children are encouraged to be their best self and follow the Stanhope way:

‘Be kind, Be safe, be your best self’.

We have two full time staff in Nursery. Myself, the class teacher and Louisa, our wonderful teaching assistant. Between us, we work hard to make each day as memorable as the last.

We love dress up days and use any events as an excuse for fancy dress.

We are self-taught experts in the following:

wiping noses, tying laces, wiping tears, bathing grazes,

being a pirate, a monster and a gorilla all in the same minute,

reading a story upside down with numerous interruptions,

giving cuddles, eating pretend playdough food, peeling fruit, hugging numerous children at one time,

talking about wee and poo several times a day...sometimes in detail,

counting heads while they continuously move,

creating silly voices, singing out of tune (even in a crowd), bum wiping, drinking numerous drinks of imaginary tea,

and covering fridge at home with drawings and paintings.

We have the best job in the world and we believe it to be a pleasure to be able to look after your most prized possession every day and a true privilege that you chose us at Stanhope to care for your child and prepare them for their next step into school.

Please take a look at a few photos of our wonderful setting and if you have any questions or would like a

show round, please contact the office and make an appointment.

We are looking forward to meeting you and your child very soon.

Little Conkers Nursery

Welcome back to an exciting Summer term

Firstly I would like to welcome back all of our children after the Easter break and say a huge welcome to our new starters.

Our learning journey for this half term is ‘Our Wonderful Bodies’. This topic was chosen following the childrens interest in their own body.

We will learn about similarities and differences in our appearances. Graphs and bar charts will demonstrate how tall we are and the colour of our hair and eyes. We will talk about body parts, and our skeleton, importance of taking care of our bodies, our diet, and importance of exercise and how we grow. We will taste various healthy foods, have a doctor’s surgery role play area, make skeleton collages using paper straws, and investigate the effect of exercise on our bodies. We will be having a visit from a nurse and a paramedic to discuss the importance of looking after our bodies.

We will sing songs about our bodies and learn the name of our body parts.

If you have any questions regarding our topic or any of the learning taking place in Nursery please pop in for a chat.

Thank you

Mrs Jaques
